Homestead Exemption

 

Homestead applications are taken annually between January 1st and April 1st.

YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING TO FILE FOR HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION BY APRIL 1st:

  • WARRANTY DEED (FILED COPY)
  • MUST BRING ALL VEHICLE TAG NUMBERS
  • PURCHASE PRICE AND DOWN PAYMENT MADE ON THE HOME
  • SSN AND BIRTHDATE (SPOUSE ALSO)
  • STATE ISSUED PHOTO ID
  • IF OVER 65, PROOF OF AGE
  • IF 100% DAV, LETTER FROM VA
  • IF DISABLED FROM SOCIAL SECURITY – AWARDS LETTER OR STATEMENT WITH EFFECTIVE DATE OF DISABILITY

 

A NEW APPLICATION IS REQUIRED IF THE FOLLOWING CHANGES HAVE OCCURRED:

  • CHANGE IN OWNERSHIP (PURCHASE OF A NEW HOME)
  • DIVORCED, MARRIED OR DECEASED SPOUSE
  • IF YOU ARE A 100% DISABLED VETERAN (SERVICE CONNECTED) BRING PROOF (VA LETTER STATING 100% DISABLED)
  • IF EITHER OWNER OF PROPERTY (MUST BE LIVING IN THE HOME) HAS TURNED 65
  • IF EITHER OWNER OF PROPERTY (MUST BE LIVING IN THE HOME) IS TOTALLY DISABLED. BRING SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY PAPERS STATING EFFECTIVE DATE OF DISABIITY
